See the Sun

Morning comes too quickly

The night disappears

While we’re having fun

But why those tears

We’ll soon see the sun

oOo

It’s almost morning time

And I’ve not had bedtime

Let me go quick

Remove my lipstick

And to bed I climb

Night night 3 a.m.

Greenwich Mean Time

oOo

Writing. Writing.

Reading. Reading.

Singing. Singing.

Laughing. Laughing.

Chatting. Chatting.

Time to rise 5 a.m.

Good morning

Greenwich Mean Time.

I write when I can. I write to express feelings. I write to explore my imagination. I write about my thoughts and dreams. I write for enjoyment. I write to relax. I write because I like to write. If you find words that resonate with you, I’d love to hear from you. If you find a situation that reminds you of something, someone, sometime, I’d love to hear from you.

Spare – His Story

Tears causing down my face

Creeping under my chin

Listened to the last

Chapters 60 to the end

Part 3 – Captain of my Soul

Now finished

Spare.

Easy listening to the

Most pleasant voice of

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.

He reads with ease

Reads with emotion

Shares poignant details

Shares sensitive information

Reads with humour

He sings

You won’t get this in

A conventional book.

He is vulnerable.

I believe His Story.

There, I’ve said it.

It’s his perspective.

It’s what he thinks.

It could not have been

Easy to draft

But he did what

He felt he needed to do.

I could write so much more

But it won’t paint the

Picture that he paints.

You have to read it yourself

Nay, listen to his voice

And then make up YOUR mind.

They say you can choose

Your friends

But you can’t choose

Your family.

This is a perfect example.

It doesn’t mean that

He loves them less.

He wanted us to hear

His side.

There’s always more than

One side to a story

Harry, I wish you well

May you and your family

Find peace to

Enjoy your life.

💕🌷💕

I Wish You Well

I wish You Well

I wish you flowers sunshine and smiles
I wish you children that grow to make you proud
I wish you pretty things to wear
Sweet things to smell

I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well

I wish you good friends that always treat you fair
Wanna wish you ribbons to tie around your hair
I wish you truckloads of cheer and many happy years

I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well

Wanna wish you freedom to do the things you love
Wanna wish you blessings and kindness from above
Wanna wish you sunlight through the clouds
Hope you laugh out loud

I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well

I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well

I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well

I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well

I wish you well

Being Happy 2

Song for this blog … George Benson’s Never Give Up on a Good Thing. The song title … wise words indeed to share on this special day.

🌷💕🌷

Tuesday 10 January 2023

Six years ago I wrote and published a blog on 10 January, 2017. The 6 years have flown by. It’s my Chicklet’s birthday today. When I wrote my blog 6 years ago, she was travelling in South America and what an adventure she had. Since then she’s still been in countries foreign and has added so much to her life. Today on her Birthday, on her Born Day of me, her mother, my wish for my precious one is the same as 6 years ago … and more. I am so proud of the woman she is and love her to bits. May your life be filled with …

Happiness, Love, Peace, Wealth and Lots of Fun

I ‘borrow’ words from friends, family, authors, writers. It helps to make lovely, memorable words go further as I share them. I don’t often know their source and have to thank you, my followers, for sharing. Below is an excerpt borrowed from a poem sent to me. It was translated in fewer words than the original, but it says what it has to say … and I’ve added just a few more words.

DESIRE

You are my last born. My beauty. My Chicklet. Your Father’s daughter – a special bond you have. Your brother’s sibling – I love to see you two together, chatting, bantering as siblings do. You love and care for those close to you. My dearest Chicklet Manisha, you are you. You’ve built lasting relationships in our families, as well as with your friends and colleagues. That’s a testament to who you are. You make me smile. You make my heart sing. I wish you so much happiness … and everything your heart desires …

I would like to wish you so many things but they would not be enough. So I wish only that you have many wishes.

“I went to the Salt Flats in Bolivia, it was truly amazing. “ Manisha – Bolivia 2017

Original Blog

“BEING HAPPY means allowing the free, happy and simple child inside each of us to live; having the maturity to say, “I was wrong”; having the audacity to say, “forgive me”. It is to have sensitivity in expressing, “I need you”; to have the ability of saying, “I love you.” – Pope Francis. The title “Being Happy” caught my eye. I looked at Pope Francis’ words very quickly when one of my brothers first sent it on Whatsapp. I didn’t give it too much attention as I was scanning so many messages … but made a note to come back to it.

It’s my daughter’s birthday today, 10th January, and I thought a good day for this post.

Happy Birthday my Chicklet! 🐥 Manisha has taken 5-6 months away to just ‘be’. To do what takes her heart and mind. Travelling on her own in South America.

Learning.

Experiencing.

Just being.

Being Happy. We are very proud of our daughter and excited for her as she relays her adventures to us. The feature image is her cycling in Argentina. A friend from the UK joined her on her travels for Christmas and New Year. They travelled from Buenos Aires to Puerto Madryn to whale watch and did some cycling in the baking sun. The next day they took a bus back to Buenos Aires and straight on to Montevideo to spend Christmas Day in Uruguay …. 26 hours of travel … but they are young. This piece of writing is filled with simple advice from Pope Francis. It gave me a lift when I read it. If only I could practice every single thing he tells us. I’m sharing and hope you like it too.

BEING HAPPY

by Pope Francis

YOU MAY have defects, be anxious and sometimes live irritated, but do not forget that your life is the greatest enterprise in the world. Only you can prevent it from going into decadence. There are many that need you, admire you and love you.

I WOULD like to remind you that being happy is not having a sky without storms, or roads without accidents, or work without fatigue, or relationships without disappointments.

BEING HAPPY is finding strength in forgiveness, hope in one’s battles, security at the stage of fear, love in disagreements.

BEING HAPPY is not only to treasure the smile, but that you also reflect on the sadness.

IT IS NOT just commemorating the event, but also learning lessons in failures.

IT IS NOT just having joy with the applause, but also having joy in anonymity.

BEING HAPPY is to recognize that it is worthwhile to live, despite all the challenges, misunderstandings and times of crises.

BEING HAPPY is not inevitable fate, but a victory for those who can travel towards it with your own being.

BEING HAPPY is to stop being a victim of problems but become an actor in history itself.

IT IS NOT only to cross the deserts outside of ourselves, but still more, to be able to find an oasis in the recesses of our soul. It is to thank God every morning for the miracle of life.

BEING HAPPY is not being afraid of one’s feelings. It is to know how to talk about ourselves. It is to bear with courage when hearing a “no”. It is to have the security to receive criticism, even if it is unfair. It is to kiss the children, pamper the parents, have poetic moments with friends, even if they have hurt us.

BEING HAPPY means allowing the free, happy and simple child inside each of us to live; having the maturity to say, “I was wrong”; having the audacity to say, “forgive me”. It is to have sensitivity in expressing, “I need you”; to have the ability of saying, “I love you.”

SO THAT your life becomes a garden full of opportunities for being happy…

IN YOUR spring-time, may you become a lover of joy. In your winter, may you become a friend of wisdom.

AND WHEN you go wrong along the way, you start all over again. Thus you will be more passionate about life. And you will find that happiness is not about having a perfect life but about using tears to water tolerance, losses to refine patience, failures to carve serenity, pain to lapidate pleasure, obstacles to open the windows of intelligence.

NEVER GIVE UP …. Never give up on the people you love. Never give up from being happy because life is an incredible show. And you are a special human being!” – Pope Francis, 2017

Love. Live. Laugh. into 2023

May the New Year of 2023 bring you Love. Laughs. Life. Peace. Enjoyment. And all that you wish for yourself, your family and anyone else in your life.

As the old year ends we look forward to new beginnings. Flinging away the old can be therapeutic to make way for the new. But one thing I’d caution against flinging out is true friendships. How do you know what is true friendship? You don’t need to meet and talk everyday. You don’t need to be in the same city, country, continent, clock-zone. You don’t need to be friends for years and years. You know you’re friends because you just know you know.

We have many people in our lives who we call friends who may be acquaintances, or colleagues who come into our lives for a reason or a season. They may be friends for a while, or for a lifetime. Treat them well.

So, as the new year begins, I thank all who are in my life for the part they played in the year past – whether a major or minor role. At the beginning of this year I had plans. Not all my plans came to fruition. No amount of planning can make everything flow perfectly. I’ve lost close family, friends, and a Queen, and celebrities of my time too; but I’ve found new people who have entered my door, they have come into my life. Heaven knows that we’re sent adventures, risks and people, who are meant to love us or try us. I consider obstacles as learning interventions. How I navigate life’s ups and downs provides a stepping stone to my next adventure, risk or meeting with someone old or new.

For now, the new year is upon us and this blog needs a bit of uplifting 😂! I’m thankful for the year past. I enjoyed lots of sunshine for the longest time in years. Two visits to Southern Africa, a visit to Abu Dhabi to mark a tick off my bucket list to watch F1 at Yas Marina. Then another tick – a fabulous cruise to the Norwegian Fjords, my first cruise. The biggest tick was our Sibling Reunion – a goal I had in mind for the past 12 years finally happened. What memories we made with my sister Gail who we sadly lost this month. Thankfully she lived a full life but there are so many memories that make me feel sad that she’s no longer here.

The past few years, months, weeks, I’ve been reminded how fragile life is. Here one minute gone the next. My generation are ‘of that age’, my friend reminded me, so it’s natural that we’ll move on out of this world. No loss is easy even if it is ‘expected’. Life nor Death consider age in their plans.

I’m looking forward to continuing to make memories with the people I love. My lovely family. My extended family. My friends. Connecting with old and new alike. Making adventures. Taking risks. Doing something different. Will I slow down a bit this year? Not really. I have plans for the year, but plans don’t always take the path we expect or want – that I know. Nevertheless, I still plan.

As 2023 rolls out before me, it brings me a deeper awareness of self, of my immediate environment, of the world at large, the people who love me and who I love too. It brings me opportunities to share what I have. The understanding that I can’t make everything right as I’d like, that some things are meant to be. I’m grateful for my riches.

I’m grateful for all that I have. I am more fortunate than many even if I’m not a millionaire. My riches are the people I love and who love me. My riches are seeing those closest to me as happy and content as they can be. My riches are doing what I can do to help others. My riches are that I love life and love what I do. My riches are what I learn and share. My riches are that I will always do what I think is right in my heart. My riches are my life, living it as well as I can, loving and giving.

My wish for you, my family, friends and followers, is that your New Year brings you love, light, peace, joy, giving, and knowing yourself well. Loving, living, keeping healthy, wealthy and wise. And anything that your heart desires.

Love and hugs from my home to yours for a smashing New Year – may it be better than the last

Cecily xxx

As I finished writing my blog these beautiful words below were sent to me. They fit so well with my thoughts that I am sharing. Thank you to everyone who sends me words and music that are meaningful and shareable.

I HAVE LEARNT A LOT THIS YEAR

I have learned that things don’t always turn out the way you expect, or the way you think they should. I have learned that rumours spread like wildfire, and peace does not come easy. I have learnt that there are things that go wrong that you aren’t able to fix, that relationships get broken and cannot get put back together the way they were before. I have learned that as long as you have people you love, no matter how broke you are, you are indeed actually very rich. I’ve learned that life is beautiful because you CAN love, even if the mystical, magical, deep and profound emotion is not reciprocated. But what I have really learned is that you can absolutely get through bad times and it only feels worse if you are always looking for the better ones; for every single NOW experience has value. Every second of life is a gift.

Sheri Ekert

My music for this blog? How Glad I Am by Nancy Wilson. How Glad I Am that you have accompanied me this year through my blog and Pages. Thank you for your company. I look forward to seeing you next year.

Taken from a YouTube account – hope it doesn’t close too soon and the link drops 🤣

Children

Sounds of children delight me. We need to hear them to know that they’re happy, learning, laughing, joyful, playful. It’s beautiful to also watch a child immersed and concentrated on something that challenges, brings them joy, adds to their knowledge, answers questions.

After dinner, playing games, opening presents, towards the end of Christmas Day, our grandson sat on the carpet amongst the hurley burley of people, concentrating on building his Lego lorry and small car. He duly directed his little fingers to make up the model, whilst scouring the illustrations of the booklet found in his Lego box. He sought out the tiny, popular blocks and other shapes and spent the best part of an hour in his own world, oblivious to the sounds and distraction around him, until his toy was complete. What joy on his face – an accomplishment. Proud Nana, Papa and his parents.

This piece of writing about Children, by Khalil Gibran, is a reminder that our children are not for keeps. We grow and nurture them, love them and then they leave us, we have to let them fly. It’s the hardest thing for a parent, but the best that we can do for our offspring. To watch them find their way in this big wide world having given them some tips to follow.

“Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.” Khalil Gibran

💕🌷💕

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

Make it Christmas Every Day

Happy Christmas! I’m told this is a deliciously sweet Christmas song. The words are lovely … if we make everyday the same as Christmas Day, how lovely would that be 💕

May Christmas begin in your heart
Let it be for everyone, without distinction.
A gesture, a smile, a hug, whatever
The best gift is always love

Song by: Roupa Nova
Roupa Nova – Natal Todo Dia

💕🌷💕

Translation from Google Translate:

A dreamlike mood spreads in the air
People look at each other with a twinkle in their eyes
We already feel Christmas coming
It’s love time, everyone is equal

Old friends will embrace
The strangers will speak
And whoever is a child will look at the sky
Wishing on Old Santa

If we are able to spread joy
If we are capable of all this magic
I’m sure we could
Make it Christmas every day

If we are able to spread joy
If we are capable of all this magic
I’m sure we could
Make it Christmas every day

A gentler way of being and talking
More calm, more time for us to give each other
Tell me why it’s only like this at Christmas
How nice if it never ended

May Christmas begin in your heart
Let it be for everyone, without distinction.
A gesture, a smile, a hug, whatever
The best gift is always love

If we are able to spread joy
If we are capable of all this magic
I’m sure we could
Make it Christmas every day

If we are able to spread joy
If we are capable of all this magic
I’m sure we could
Make it Christmas every day

Christmas every day
Christmas every day (every day is Christmas)
Christmas every day (every day is Christmas)
Christmas every day (every day is Christmas)

Christmas every day (every day is Christmas)
Christmas every day (every day is Christmas)
Christmas every day (every day is Christmas)
Christmas every day (every day is Christmas)

Um clima de sonho se espalha no ar
Pessoas se olham com brilho no olhar
A gente já sente chegando o Natal
É tempo de amor, todo mundo é igual

Os velhos amigos irão se abraçar
Os desconhecidos irão se falar
E quem for criança, vai olhar pro céu

Me diz porque só no Natal é assim
Que bom se ele nunca tivesse mais fim

Que o Natal comece no seu coração
Que seja pra todos, sem ter distinção
Um gesto, um sorriso, um abraço, o que for
O melhor presente é sempre o amor
