Reblogged this poem by DEEsign – the words are lovely. And the song I’ve chosen to go with it?
This is an iconic song from my teens and almost all my family and friends will get up and dance wherever and whenever it is played. I didn’t know the words (but recently looked them up on translate) but it’s the rhythm that stays with you. Vulindlela by Brenda Fassie.
I write when I have the urge. I write to express feelings. I write to explore my imagination. I write about my thoughts and dreams. I write for enjoyment. I write to relax. I write because I like to write.
If you find words that resonate with you, I’d love to hear from you. If you find a situation that reminds you of something, someone, sometime, I’d love to hear from you. Do hope you enjoy reading Cecilyswritings.

Hi Cecily
I’m so humbled that you chose to reblog my piece “Africa in my heart”. It’s the first time a fellow blogger has extended my work this honor and I’m grateful to you. Thank you!!! You chose a perfect pairing with Brenda Fassie. She’s one of my fav South African artists. When I lived in SA I actually bought the CD with that very song. It’s a tribute song to a son getting married. Beautiful lyrics. Well done.
Cheers, Dee

Hi Dee! Thank you for your message. Your words spoke to me, well done. My Dad was born in Cape Town and I have wonderful memories of times spent with our fabulous family. I love the African beat. I’m glad you liked my song choice – definitely a favourite all round. Brenda Fassie has a special place for me as she reminds me of happy times with one of my sisters-in-law who sadly passed on some years ago. Happy day to you and yours writing.

Hey there Cecily!! Good to read from you. Lovely to know you also have a SA connection and such a deep one too. Cape Town is absolutely gorgeous. Sorry for the loss of your sis-in-law. Songs are so powerful —they help us to live in memories. And Brenda is among the best of them for good song writing/storytelling and singing. Happy Wednesday to you. Happy writing! I’m following your blog. Cheers, Dee
